data model — English
A data model is a method of representing spatial and aspatial components of real-world entities on a computer. The data model is created through a process of abstraction. It is not possible to capture each and every detail of a building. For the purpose of a data model you need to decide how you are going to represent the building spatially and which attributes of the building you want to capture. For example, we represent the building as a point and capture its type (i.e. a house, shop, store, factory, etc.).
