Transverse Mercator projection — English
The Transverse Mercator projection is a common map projection based on a transverse cylinder. This projection type generally does not maintain true directions, but angles and shapes are mostly maintained. Distances are accurate along the central meridian if the scale factor is 0.1. Area, distance and scale distortions rapidly increase with distance from the central meridian.
