nominal scale — English
Attribute data are captured using a scale of measurement. A nominal scale is a measurement scale that indicates the difference between values, but does not reflect rank or absolute differences. Examples of a nominal scale include telephone numbers, identification (ID) numbers or numbers representing land use. Nominal data cannot be used to do any calculations.
